Honors College
Old Central renovation to house the Honors College Center:
Just as first-class athletic facilities are important to recruiting top athletes and helping them succeed in their athletic endeavors, having a state-of-the-art Honors College Center is important to recruiting and nurturing outstanding undergraduate students in the context of the Academic Instruction strategic theme of the OSU System. The performance of Oklahoma State University scholars over the last decade has made OSU recognized nationally as an institution that produces the very best candidates for national competitions, graduate schools, and employment. A limiting factor at present is space available for offices, seminar rooms, and informal gathering places for students and faculty. Construction of a well-appointed free-standing Honors College Center to house Honors College administrative and advising offices, reception and meeting areas, visiting scholar office space, informal gathering space for students, and a study lounge for students along with a fully-equipped computer laboratory and multi-media seminar/conference rooms/classrooms would provide a “home” for The Honors College that matches or exceeds those of many institutions competing directly with OSU for top students.
Goal - $7 Million

Scholar Development and Recognition
The OSU Scholar Development Office, working closely with the Honors College and other Undergraduate colleges, manages and implements these programs, and is considered a national model among all other institutions who participate in these activities. Thanks to continuing and growing success, there is a great need for increased support that would generate programming for those wanting to expand their undergraduate experience even more.
Special Programming for OSU’s top students in Scholar Development:
Summer programs on-site at major universities around the world. Currently, programs are set for Cambridge in 2006 and 2007.
Two major special courses each semester taught by noted scholars from all over the world. This past year the Executive Secretary of the Harry Truman Scholarship Foundation taught a weekend seminar on success after college- which attracted students from all over the campus who intend to go directly into the world of work instead of graduate school.
Significant scholarships for departing students who have competed for the best and most difficult competitions in the world, and for one reason or another fallen short.
Cambridge Scholar Trip - Funding for the Scholar Development and Recognition Cambridge, England Summer Program. OSU Scholars Development & Recognition- Scholarships for students who were not successful in securing national awards (Truman, Marshall etc.) through the SDR department. This would allow exceptional students a reward for their hard work and perseverance displayed through their participation in the rigorous SDR program.
Goal - $250,000
