Ms. Paulette Black, Program Officer for the Kirkpatrick Foundation (Foundation), visited the OSU Center for Veterinary Health Sciences today to receive an update on projects funded by the Foundation.

“The Kirkpatrick Foundation has long been a valued supporter of veterinary medicine,” says Dr. Michael Lorenz, Dean and Professor. “We are delighted to have this opportunity to show Ms. Black the improvements that have been made and how these enhance the training our veterinary and veterinary technician students receive.” Black also spent some time with Dr. Mark Neer, Director of the Boren Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, as he pointed out places where state-of-the-art equipment is slated to be installed in the near future. As they toured the Teaching Hospital, they were able to see how valuable the Small Animal Intensive Care Unit is to the welfare of the patients treated at this facility.

“We are truly grateful to the Kirkpatrick Foundation,” explains Dr. Neer. “They recently gave the Veterinary Center $200,000 to kick start the renovation of our Small Animal ICU. The improvements we are planning will positively benefit the patients we serve. At the same time, our veterinary students will have an opportunity to work on equipment that is comparable to what they will use in the work place tomorrow.”
