Baker Hughes Presents $50,000 Gift for OSU Engineering Scholarships

The Oklahoma State University [OSU] Foundation announced today a $50,000 gift received from Houston-based oil service company Baker Hughes for scholarships to benefit mechanical, electrical and chemical engineering students.

“Baker Hughes has long been a technology leader in providing products and services for the oil and natural gas industry, and has numerous OSU engineering graduates in their employ,” said Larry Hoberock, head of the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. “We very much appreciate their gift, which will establish an endowment for students interested in the petroleum industry.”

The check was presented to the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology yesterday in the Wes Watkins Center during a recruiting information session for engineering students.

“Our commitment to learning extends outside the walls of Baker Hughes,” Nedra Washington, staffing specialist, said.  “We’re looking to share a career full of opportunities with OSU students to invent new technology, be our future leaders, lead the company's advancement and growth and define our position in the oil service industry. There are no limits to what you can achieve at Baker Hughes Incorporated! ”

Baker Hughes provides worldwide oil and natural gas industry products and services for drilling, formation evaluation, completion and production.

The Oklahoma State University Foundation serves as the private fundraising organization for OSU, as designated by the OSU Regents. Its mission is to unite donor and university passions and priorities to achieve excellence.
