Kirkpatrick Foundation Gives $200,000 to OSU’s College of Veterinary Health Sciences
Gift to upgrade Small Animal Critical Care Unit

The Oklahoma State University (OSU) Foundation announced today a $200,000 lead gift from the Kirkpatrick Foundation for a $350,000 project upgrade of the Small Animal Critical Care Unit (CCU) located in the College of Veterinary Health Sciences.
The OSU Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital has the only small animal CCU staffed and equipped to handle serious emergency and critical care cases around the clock in Oklahoma. The unit is the focal point for training veterinary and veterinary technician students in critical care and emergency technology and procedures, and is the only program of its kind in the state.
“This generous gift from the Kirkpatrick Foundation will allow OSU to grow a program that provides a valuable service to this region,” says Kirk Jewell, OSU Foundation CEO. “We are honored the Kirkpatrick Foundation chose OSU as a place to express their passion by creating an enduring gift that will provide life-saving opportunities for small animals.”
Once the additional $150,000 is raised, the $350,000 upgrade will renovate the 1,205 square-foot CCU, update equipment and provide videoconferencing to veterinary practitioners and veterinary technician programs in Oklahoma.
The renovated CCU will provide a state-of-the-art facility significantly improving both veterinary education and patient care allowing OSU to better serve the nearly 400 veterinary medical and technician students educated through the college.
The Oklahoma State University Foundation serves as the private fundraising organization for OSU, as designated by the OSU Regents. Its mission is to unite donor and university passions and priorities to achieve excellence.
