The scholarship is awarded every year to outstanding student employees of the OSU Library. Recipients must be employed as a student assistant in the OSU Library and be enrolled as a full time student at OSU. The scholarship was established May 28, 1992 by the class of 1942 to honor OAMC President Oliver S. Willham.
Each of the recipients receives a one-dollar an hour pay raise. Also, two recipients become members of the Friends of the OSU Library Board of Directors for the year and attend the annual meeting in November. Rose and Mudroch will serve as board members for the 2006-2007 school year.
“The opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors is the main reason I applied for the scholarship,” said Amanda Rose, Finance and Economics Sophomore. “It’s a way for me to give back to the donors who do so much for the OSU Library.”
The winners were announced in early September. Requirements for the scholarship include academic achievement at either the high school or college level with a GPA of at least 3.0. Outstanding leadership skills, extracurricular involvement and need of financial assistance are also considered.
