Robert Glenn Rapp Foundation Grant Strengthens Oklahoma State University
Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital
Oklahoma State University (OSU) Foundation officials announced today a $25,000 gift that will help provide cutting edge instruction to veterinary students and advanced diagnostic imaging to clients and veterinarians in Oklahoma and surrounding states.
The gift from the Rapp Foundation will push the university closer toward completing the Oklahoma Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging Center, which improves the speed, efficiency and safety of acquiring diagnostics by using digital images instead of traditional radiographic film. In addition, hospital teaching faculty and their students can access digital images instantly from workstations throughout the hospital and distribute them to clients and referring veterinarians.
“Our veterinary imaging center serves animal owners in Oklahoma and surrounding states. It is essential that we provide state-of-the-art facilities and equipment to train our students in latest diagnostic technology. The Rapp Foundation has been a great supporter of our academic programs and their gift is very much appreciated,” said Dr. Michael Lorenz, Dean of the Center for Veterinary Health Services.
The Imaging Center is housed in the Veterinary Medical Teaching hospital on the university’s Stillwater campus and is the only full-service multi-species veterinary hospital in Oklahoma.
Robert Glenn Rapp established the foundation that bears his name in 1951. Throughout its history Rapp Foundation trustees have placed a major philanthropic focus on education with an emphasis on building programs and supporting endowments and professorships. With the most recent gift to Oklahoma State University, the Trustees of the Rapp Foundation have approved support totaling more than $850,000 for the institution.
“Oklahoma State University could not fulfill its land-grant mission without the support of those who wish to see the citizens of Oklahoma benefit through advances in higher education,” said Kirk A. Jewell, president and CEO of the OSU Foundation. “The Rapp Foundation understands the importance of offering this support and we are grateful for the role they play in making our institution and our State stronger.”
The Oklahoma State University Foundation is the private fundraising organization for OSU, as designated by the OSU Regents. Its mission is to unite donor and university passions and priorities to achieve excellence.
